SIOUX CITY -- Nadine T. Allen, 83, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center after a short illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Central Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Kevin Roach officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to meyerbroschapels.com.

Nadine was born Feb. 7, 1927, in Harris, Iowa, the daughter of Lowell and Esther J. (Umland) Cox. On April 26, 1944, she married George J. Allen in Altoona, Pa. After their marriage, the couple lived in Sioux Falls, S.D., then returned to Altoona and later moved back to Sioux Falls. In 1951 they made Sioux City their home, where Nadine was a lifetime homemaker and a full-time mother of their six children.

Nadine and George loved to ballroom dance and bowl. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Nadine was proud of the fact that she was a member of The General Society of Mayflower Descendants and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a longtime member of Central Assembly of God.

She is survived by her five sons and their wives, Bob and Barbara Allen of Palm Desert, Calif., Joe Allen, Jim and Sherry Allen, Rick and Sheryle Allen, all of Sioux City, and Doug and Lisa Allen of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter and her husband, Amy and Tony Leuch of Owatonna, Minn.; 13 grandchildren and their spouses, James and Rosa Allen, Michael and Dawn Allen, Jeffrey and Tracy Allen, Jason and P.J. Allen, Holly and Mike Varpness, Nikki Allen, Jenny and Ben Dorenkamp, Julie and David Smith, Andrew Allen, Alana Allen, Amanda and Tim Ress, Greg Leuch and Erin Leuch; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Betty Jean Cox; and a daughter-in-law, Kim Allen.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
