CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- Carol M. Cunningham, 84, of Correctionville passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2010, at the Correctionville Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Grace United Methodist Church of Correctionville, with the Rev. Sheryl K. Ashley officiating. Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the church. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville is in charge of the arrangements.

Carol M. (Ashmore) Cunningham was born on Sept. 13, 1925, in Correctionville, Iowa, to Clifford and Belva (Downey) Ashmore. She was raised and educated in the Correctionville area. She graduated from Correctionville High School in 1944.

Carol married James "Joe" Cunningham on April 30, 1949, in Le Mars, Iowa. She worked as a postal clerk at the Correctionville Post Office for several years before retiring due to poor health.

She enjoyed flowers, Precious Moments and playing cards, but especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, James "Joe" Cunningham of Correctionville; son, Jim and wife, Lana Cunningham of Cushing, Iowa; daughter, Nancy and husband, Lester "Butch" Alioth of Correctionville; grandchildren, James and wife, Laura Cunningham and their children, Allyson, Kaitlyn, Cassidy and Keegan of Shelby, Iowa, Jon and wife, Gretchen Cunningham and their children, Austin, Trevor and Trent of Minden, Iowa, Dennis and wife, Judy Alioth and their children, Zach, Justina and Noah of Sioux City, and David and wife, Tami Alioth and their children, Cole, Gage, Broc, Danika and Khloee of Anthon, Iowa.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dale and Glenn; and sisters, Dorothy, Wilma and Arlene.
