SERGEANT BLUFF -- Lois Bray Rowse, 96, of Sergeant Bluff passed away Oct. 11, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Werley of Grace United Methodist Church officiating. Committal services for her cremains will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to service time Friday, with the Order of the Eastern Star service at 10 a.m. conducted by the Morningside Rose Croix Chapter 502, at the funeral home. Lois Bray Stevens was born Oct. 26, 1910, to Ernest and Nettie (Bray) Stevens, in Sioux City. She grew up in rural Sioux City, Morningside area, and lived in her original home for years. She graduated from East High School, the first graduating class at the then new school.

Lois and Charles Rowse were married in the late 1930s and made their home in Sioux City. Her first main job was as a comptometer operator for Sioux City Milk Producers. Although a homemaker, she worked for several local businesses and Morningside College.

Lois was active in the community and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and part of Mary's Circle. She was active in the League of Women Voters, a member of Iota Delphians. She was also a member of several study book clubs and a life long member of Eastern Star.

In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling.

At the time of Lois's death she was survived by husband, Charles; and daughters, Joan Morton of Chicago, Ill., and Patricia L. Rowse of Sioux City; various extended family members; and a host of friends also survived her.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother.
