SIOUX CITY -- Doris E. Wilson, 93, of Sumner, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died May 9, 2010, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Sumner, where she had resided since January 2006.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 29, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Inurnment will be in Logan Park Cemetery.

Doris was born Aug. 25, 1916, in Spink, S.D., to Alfred and Ellen (Davidson) Johnson. She came to Sioux City at an early age, where she lived most of her life. She graduated from Central High School in 1934. She was married to Kenneth T. Wilson on July 22, 1939, in Sioux City. He passed away in 2004.

Doris was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church. She loved to golf, bowl and play bridge and was an avid walker.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (David) Hennessey of Sumner; two sons, James (Judy) Wilson of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Richard Wilson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Eunice Cox of McKinney, Texas; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Johnson of Omaha, Neb.; as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one granddaughter, Katy Hennessey; sisters, Lois Kubler and Leone Lane and brother-in-law, Robert Lane; niece, Sherry Lane Cook; brothers, Glenn and Robert Johnson; brother-in-law, Ralph Cox; and her parents.
