Albert Henry Sevening was born on Jan. 26, 1924, in Danbury, Iowa, the son of John and Angela (Collins) Sevening. The family moved to a farm near Anthon in 1929, where he grew up and attended country school through the eighth grade. He then started working with his father on the farm, which began his lifelong career in the farming industry.

On June 3, 1948, Albert was united in marriage to Marian Karhoff at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon. To this union three daughters were born. Along with farming, Albert owned and operated Al's Feed Service, the Kent Feed store in Anthon, into the 80s. He also worked periodically for Hamann-Sauser Implement assembling machinery. Albert and Marian built their home and moved into Anthon in 1976. Albert continued to farm for a time and later retired. With the loving care of his wife and family, he was able to remain living in his home until just days before his death.

He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon as well as the Knights of Columbus. He especially enjoyed woodworking and could often be found in his shop out behind the house. He shared the products of this talent as gifts for family and friends.

Survivors include Marian, his wife of 61 years; three daughters and their husbands, Mary Paulette "Polly" and Allan Pithan of Anthon, Susan Kay and Thomas "Tom" Lewis of Estherville, Iowa, and Faye Ellen and Bryan Hill of Anthon; seven grandchildren, Angela Schrunk and her husband, Keith, Michael Pithan and his wife, Kathy, David Pithan and his wife, Stacy, Aaron, Brett, and Megan Lewis, and Tony Hill and his wife, Torey; five great-grandchildren, Henry, Olivia, and Emma Pithan, and Karah and Kaidynce Hill; along with several other relatives, neighbors and good friends.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, John "Bud" Sevening; and two sisters, Dorothy Carr and Eileen Sokolowski.
