SLOAN, Iowa -- Delores Worley, 80, affectionately known as Grandma Dee, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Community Church of Christ in Sloan, with Dr. Emery Killian officiating. Burial will be in Sloan Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 7 to 8 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Delores Nancy was born April 17, 1929, in Sioux City, the daughter of Archie Reo and Tina Marie (Schwarz) Carr. Later, the family moved to Bloomfield, Neb., where she graduated from high school. After graduation, she attended a business school in Sioux City and later worked at Morningside College.

On Feb. 15, 1948, she and Maynard Burton Worley were united in marriage in Bloomfield. The couple lived in various locations before moving to the Sioux City area in 1959. She was employed at a variety of jobs including waitress, office secretary and operated a day care from her home. Maynard passed away March 18, 1992, in Sioux City.

She was an affiliate member of Community Church of Christ and attended Valley Apartments prayer group. She enjoyed hand work and gave many pieces to churches for bazaars.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Wanda and Ed Harvey of Sloan and Roxanne and Dale Sykora of Smithland, Iowa; a son and his wife, Doan and Cherie Worley of Omaha; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters and their husbands, Linnea and Robert Stein of Yankton, S.D., and Arlin and Chris Wolf of Norfolk, Neb.; and a brother-in-law, Paul Wearne of Missouri.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Ramona Wearne.
