SIOUX CITY -- Joel Martin Bard III, 62, formerly of Sioux City died Thursday, July 1, 2010.

Burial was held July 3 in Cedar Dale Cemetery, Papillion, Neb.

Joel Martin Bard III was born Aug. 10, 1947, in Sioux City, the son of Joel M. Bard Jr. and Mina L. (Williamson) Bard. He attended Longfellow, East Junior and graduated from East High School in 1965. After four years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, he graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1975.

He married Karen Vencalek on Aug. 1, 1981. He was employed for 35 years with Lamp Rynearson and Associates Inc. of Omaha as a structural engineer.

Survivors include his wife, Karen (Vencalek) Bard; a daughter, Kelly (Keith) Devney; his parents, Joel M. and Mina Bard of Sioux City; an aunt, Helen Williamson Reeves of Texarkana, Ark.; sisters, Lea Ann (Ronald) Rochon of Des Moines and Karen (Curtis) Winchester of Tucson, Ariz.; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
