RODNEY, Iowa -- Viola Marie Ronfeldt, 87, formerly of Rodney, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006, at Plattsmouth Manor in Plattsmouth, Neb., following a long illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Lutheran Church-LCMS in Climbing Hill, Iowa, with the Rev. Dr. Klaus Raab officiating. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery in Climbing Hill. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Willman Funeral Home in Rodney.

Viola was born March 28, 1919, in St. Clair Township near Ute, Iowa, the second of six children of Carl and Eva (Reiling) Waderich.

Viola married Richard Ronfeldt on Dec. 14, 1941. They lived on the Ronfeldt farm near Hornick, Iowa, helping take care of Richard's dad. The family continued on the farm and Viola always had a big garden. They retired in 1974 and moved to Rodney. Richard suffered a stroke in 1989, went to the nursing home in Whiting, Iowa, and passed away in 1993.

Viola continued to live in Rodney, but stayed with her children off and on since 2002. In May 2003, she had a stroke and became a resident of Plattsmouth Manor. She enjoyed bingo, going to church and the music programs at the Manor. She loved the many visitors and cards she received.

Survivors include her children, Mel and Sandie Ronfeldt of Omaha, Neb., Lois LaFleur of Sioux City, Gary and Janet Ronfeldt of Schaller, Iowa, Mary and Richard Peters of Plattsmouth and Dale and Shelly Ronfeldt of Hornick; three brothers, Louie and Delores Waderich and August and Bernice Waderich, all of Sioux City, and Dale Waderich of Roseberg, Ore.; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; a sister, Leona; a brother, Paul; a son-in-law, Frenchy; and a daughter-in-law, Karen.
