MOVILLE, Iowa -- Wayne F. Preul, 81, of Moville passed away, surrounded by his family, Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa, with the Rev. Catie Newman officiating. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill, Iowa, with military rites conducted by the American Legion Hindman-Steele Post 492 of Hornick, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Wayne was born Aug. 25, 1928, in rural Charter Oak, Iowa, the son of Fred and Louise Preul. The family lived in the Charter Oak and Ticonic, Iowa, areas. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict.

Wayne and Joanne Lussier were united in marriage on Nov. 19, 1953, in Sergeant Bluff. The couple farmed in Monona, Plymouth and Woodbury counties. They have farmed near Moville since 1970. He also sold seed corn for many years.

He was a member of the American Legion Hindman-Steele Post 492. He enjoyed deer hunting with his friends, bird watching and playing with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne of Moville; a son and his wife, Wade and Jennifer of Moville; a daughter and her husband, Janine and Marty Platzeck of Hornick, Iowa; five grandchildren, Megan and her husband, Joshua Ebert, Trevor and Shannen Platzeck and Kiara and Heaven Preul; two great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Jeralyne; and two sisters, Marcella Glau of Mapleton, Iowa, and Bernadine Dausel of Whiting, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two brothers-in-law, Edwin Glau and Floyd Dausel.
