HORNICK, Iowa -- Alma Arletta Beem, 81, of Hornick died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Holly Springs Bible Fellowship Church in Holly Springs, Iowa. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville, Iowa.

Alma was born Oct. 18, 1922 in Douglas County, Nebraska, the daughter of Raymond and Irene (Rhodes) Owen. She attended school at Millard, Neb. She continued her education by attending business college. She and her sister, Fern, performed on a weekly radio program as the Owen Sisters during the War.

Alma married Edwin D. Beem on June 3, 1944 at Omaha, Neb. After their marriage, they lived in Oklahoma and Florida during the War until returning to Hornick, Iowa, where they have lived since.

She was an active member of Holly Springs Bible Fellowship Church. Alma's talents were endless and her love for music was great.

Survivors include her husband, Edwin of Hornick; four sons and their wives, Charles and Toni Beem of Indianapolis, Ind., Danny and Kathy Beem of Phoenix, Ariz., Sam and Theresa Beem of Spirit Lake, Iowa and John and Peggy Beem of Villisca, Iowa; a daughter and her husband, Linda and George Bolton of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; two sisters and their husbands, Fern and Dr. Everett Moore of Mobile, Ala. and Lorene and J.K. O'Brian of Omaha, Neb.; a brother and his wife, Harold and Arlene Owen of Richmond, Virginia; 12 grandchildren, Angela Moe, Daniel Beem, Shannon Ables, Wendy Higgins, Amy Beem, Jacob Beem, Michael Bolton, David Bolton, Katie Bolton, Lindsey Beem, Ashley Alma Beem and Johnny Beem; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
