Smithland, Iowa—Beulah Eveline Lucas, 95, of Mapleton, Iowa formerly of Smithland, died Saturday November 11, 2000 at Maple Heights in Mapleton.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Smithland United Methodist Church with the Rev. Shirley Textor officiating. Burial will be in Little Sioux Township Cemetery, Smithland. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at Willman Funeral Home in Rodney, Iowa, with the family present.

Mrs. Lucas was born March 16, 1905, at Ticonic, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Dora Peacock Newman. She attended Country school. She married Orval Lucas on December 31, 1925, in Ida Grove. The couple lived in Smithland. Mr. Lucas died May 31, 1988, in Sioux City. She moved to Maple Heights in 1996.

Survivors include a brother and his wife, Leland and Betty Newman of Battle Creek, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Letha Newman of Sioux City and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Charlie, Fred and Leonard; and a sister, Sylvia Muckey.
