3 November 2000Mapleton, Iowa—Grace Rozezella Clausen, 96, of Mapleton died Wednesday, November 1, 2000, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be in Little Sioux Township Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today with prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Clausen was born May 1, 1904, in Clinton, Mo., the daughter of Lewis and Laura (Riggs) Clausen. She moved with her family to Anthon, Iowa.
In 1919, she married George Kroeger in Anthon. The Couple moved to the Midway, Iowa community and later moved to Smithland, Iowa. Her husband died in 1940. She moved to Mapleton.
She married Waldemar Clausen on Feb. 14, 1944, in Mapleton. The couple farmed in the Mapleton area before to Homer, Nebr., where they farmed for two years. They lived in California briefly, then returned to Mapleton. Her husband died March 28, 1984.
She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, United Church of Christ Fellowship, Quilting Club and Morning Coffee Club.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Raymond and Barbara Kroeger of Waldport, Ore.; three daughters, Emma Claus of Hornick, Iowa, Georgene Carstensen of Arthur, Iowa, and Shirley Riggle of Bloomfield, Colo., 25 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Kenneth and Phyllis Luce of Sioux City; a sister, Nora Belle Hayes of Sioux City; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three daughters, four brothers, five sisters and a granddaughter.
