8 November 1998Hornick, Iowa—Paul Henry Claus, 78, of Hornick died Friday, November 6, 1998 at his residence in Hornick.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Hornick with Pastor Ed Elliott officiating. Burial will be in the Little Sioux Township Cemetery in Smithland, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 5 p.m. at the Willman Funeral Home in Rodney, Iowa.
Mr. Claus was born February 4, 1920 in Smithland, Iowa the son of Herman and Ann (Steinhoff) Claus. He attended Smithland High School.
He married Emma Irene Kroeger on February 22, 1939 in rural Smithland. During World War II, he served in the United States Marine Corps. He farmed near Climbing Hill and Hornick before working for the Department of Transportation for 10 years. They moved to Sioux City in 1975. He retired to Hornick in 1984.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Hornick and the Leslie F Seaton American Legion Post 666 at Smithland.
Survivors include his wife, three sons and their wives, Ronald and Dorothy of Belton, Mo. Dennis and Carol of Smithland and Kurt and Pat of Wartrace,Tenn; two daughters and their husbands, Lind and Les Douglas of Moville, Iowa and Garnet and Al Palmer of Grain Valley, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lester and two sisters, Marie Watson and Lottie Tresham.
