Hornick, Iowa—Lowell Gene Bockelmann, 34, of Hornick died Monday, Feb 3, 1997, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Climbing Hill, Iowa, with the Rev. Glenn Rachuy officiating. Burial will be in Little Sioux Township Cemetery at Smithland, Iowa. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at the Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa.

Mr. Bockelmann was born Oct. 31, 1962 in Battle Creek, Iowa, the son of David and Lois (Meyer) Bockelmann. He was raised in the Smithland area and graduated from Westwood High School in 1981. In 1984, he moved to a farm near Hornick. He married Lynne Rasmussen on Sept 19, 1992, in Climbing Hill. In 1996, he organized, owned and operated a landscaping business, known as Bockelmann Landscaping.

He was a member of St John’s Lutheran Church. He also volunteered as a coach for the Smithland Little League Ball Program.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Brad; a daughter, Jamie; two stepsons, Jeremy and Beau Koeppe; two stepdaughters, Brittany and McKinzi Koeppe; his father of Oto, Iowa; a brother and his wife, Lonnie and JoAnn of Smithland; a sister and her husband, Michele and Jesse Kirkendall of Sloan, Iowa; and his maternal grandfather, Louis Meyer of Smithland.

He was preceded in death by his mother; his maternal grandmother, Mahela Meyer; and paternal grandparents, Henry and Leta Bockelmann.
