Funeral Services Held Monday For Vera M. Fisher

Funeral services for Vera M. Fisher, 82, of Moville, were held Monday August 10, 1992 at 10:00 a.m. at the Moville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Orrin T. Potter officiated. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City, under the direction of the McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville.

Lloyd Jenness, soloist, sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Rock of Ages,” Betty Rhue was organist.

Casket bearers were grandsons.

Mrs. Fisher was born September 19, 1909, at Cushing, Iowa, daughter of Carl O. and Florence M. Smith. She married Rowley Fisher February 18, 1931 at Sioux City. They moved from Anthon to Moville 40 years ago. She was a farm wife and had worked for the Moville School cafeteria and the City Cafe. Mr. Fisher died April 29, 1972 at Moville.

Mrs. Fisher died unexpectedly Thursday August 6, 1992 in a Sioux City hospital.

Survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Norma Jean and Robert Watt of Kiester, Minnesota, Betty Lou and Robert Lloyd of St. Peter, Missouri, Shirley Jane and Kendall Crawford of Moville and Marilyn June and Harold Ray of Yuba City, California; a son and his wife, Gary Lee and Barbara Fisher of Miami, Oklahoma and a daughter-in-law, Prudencia Fisher of San Mateo, California, 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Dorothy Lage and Bonnie Phillips, both of Moville, Mildred Forch of Correctionville, and Evelyn Fortner of Brazil, Indiana; a brother, Raymond Smith of Ida Grove.

In additional to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Rowley Duane Fisher, two brothers, Wilber and Donald Smith and a sister, Lila Livermore.
