Funeral Services Held Saturday For Roscoe V. Riser

Funeral services for Roscoe V. Riser, 79, of Moville, were held Saturday July 7, 1990 at 10:00 a.m. in the Moville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Orrin T Potter officiated. Interment was in Arlington Cemetery, Moville, under the direction of the McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville.

Janice Schnaible, soloist, sang “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Betty Rhue was organist.

Casket bearers were Messrs. Gene Bremer, Ronnie Riser, Gehrig Johndreau, Bob Bleil, Jack Bremer, Don Needham, Linn Hall and Don Bleil.

Mr. Riser was born March 14, 1911, near Moville. He attended Arlington Township and Moville public schools and lived all his life on a farm 3 ˝ miles northeast of Moville. On May 24, 1938, he married Neil McClaran at Salix. He was a retired farmer.

He was a member of Moville United Methodist Church.

Mr. Riser died Thursday July 5, 1990 in a Sioux City hospital of brief illness.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and their wives, Nick and Joyce Riser of Sioux City, Dave and Gilda Riser of Boardman, Ohio and Steve and Dianne Riser of Moville; a daughter and her husband, Sally and Ron Emerson of Clarion; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pearl Anderson of Pascagoula, Mississippi and Mabel Bleil of Kingsley, and a sister-in-law, Irene Riser of Moville.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Fred, Dick, Jack and George and four sisters, Lillian, Ella, Edna and Cora.
