Frank Whicher
Frank Pierce Whicher, 74, Sioux
City, former prominent attorney, died
Sunday (March 10,1985) at the nursing
home after a long illness,
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday
at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Rev.
Marya L. Tatro, Curate, will officiate,
Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m.
Tuesday with Masonic rites conducted
by Landmark Lodge at 7 p.m. in the
Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.
Mr. Whicher was born March 31,
1910, in Red Lodge, Mont, and came to
Sioux City in 1926. Me graduated from
Central High School in 1928. He married
Mary Catherine McEwen Nov. 29.
1935, at Le Mars, She died Aug. 2.1980,
in Sioux City. He practiced law in
Sioux City from 1934 until retiring in
1982.
He was a member of St. Thomas
Bar Association: Iowa State Bar Association,
serving on the Public Relations
Committee in 1954 and the Board
of Governors from 1904 to 1908.
Mr. Whicher was a member of
Landmark Lodge 103 AF&AM. York
Rile Bodies. Sioux City Scottish Rile
Bodies where he received Knight
Commander Court of Honour in 1945
and was coroneted a 33rd Degree Inspector
General Honorary in 1955. He
was a member of Abu Bekr Shrine
Temple and a longtime member of the
Chanters Unit of the Shrine He was a
member of Optimist Club. Sioux City
Chapter American Inter Professional
Institute (president in 1942). Greater
Siouxland Merchandising Council, lie
was formerly active with the Chamber
of Commerce. Boy Scouts. USO during
World War II and a former member of
the Sioux City Boat Club He was honored
as Legal Secretaries Boss of the
Year in 1979
Survivors are five daughters. Mrs.
Alvin (Colleen) Ford and Mrs. Jack
(Pat) Beyer, both of Sioux City. Mrs.
Allan Sue Peterson of Phoenix.
Ariz.. Mrs. Buck (Peggy) Larsen of
Carroll and Mrs. Robert Laurie
Daykin of Chelan. Wash) : a brother.
T M (Ted) Whicher of Sioux City: 14
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established in
his name with Mid-Step Services for
Retarded Children in Sioux City arid
St. Thomas-Episcopal Church.
