Injury Proved Fatal to Moville Young Man

Weir McCurdy died in a Sioux City hospital Thursday afternoon from injuries received the day before at Holly Springs.

He had stopped to put water in his truck radiator and in getting out of the cab he ran into the lever that is used for dumping. Although suffering he continued on towards Sergeant Bluff with a load of gravel. His suffering was so great that he stopped the truck and got out. Other truckers took him to a doctor at Sergeant Bluff who took him to a Sioux City hospital. His insides were punctured in four places.

T. A. Weir McCurdy was born on a farm five miles southwest of Kingsley, Iowa, July 22, 1899. At the age of 2 years he moved with his parents to the Pierson vicinity where he attended the same country school his mother had attended when a child, then to Pierson high school, finishing his educational career at N.B.T. in Sioux City, Iowa. When a lad of 17 years he was baptized in the Christian church at Pierson. At the age of 20 years he was married to Esther Bertha Harvey.

After residing for six years at Clark, S. D., they returned to Iowa and three years later Mr. McCurdy and his father engaged in business at Moville.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Esther Luella, and three sons, Gaylord Weir, Robert Clifton and Max Craig; his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. T. A. McCurdy, and a brother, F. L. McCurdy.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Roy Cox in the Congregational church Sunday afternoon. Burial was in the Kingsley cemetery under direction of B. R. Stiles of Moville.

The pallbearers were B. B. Bennett, Jack Wenrith, J. Stevens, William Hardy and Verne Snyder, all of Pierson, and R. J. Rhue of Moville.
