Dorothy Lorraine Metz, 77, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Alan Wicks officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mrs. Metz was born Aug. 8, 1925, in Sioux City, the daughter of Torval C. and Emma H. (Erickson) Thompson. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City.

She married Elvin H. Metz on June 25, 1948, in Sioux City. At one time, she was employed with D.K. Baxter Refrigeration Co. in Sioux City. Most recently, she was employed with National Association of Credit Management.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church and at one time the Altar Guild. She was a former member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary during the war.

Survivors include her husband, Elvin; a son and his wife, Gregory and Kim Metz of Richland, Wash.; two daughters and their husbands, Cheri and Donald Trometer and Joan and Larry Kaschmitter, all of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, William and Joy Thompson of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Tom and Dan Metz, Jessica Moore, Brian, Brent and Kristi Trometer and Mitch and Becky Kaschmitter; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Ronald Thompson.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Tom and Dan Metz, Brian and Brent Trometer and Mitch Kaschmitter.
