ANTHON, Iowa -- William P. Heinse Jr., 81, of Anthon died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa, following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Midway, rural Battle Creek, Iowa, with the Rev. Thomas Sabel officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

William Paul Heinse Jr. was born June 1, 1921, on the home place at Midway, rural Battle Creek, the son of William and Carrie (Hanson) Heinse Sr.

On Dec. 17, 1941, he was united in marriage to Wilma Lee in South Sioux City. The couple moved to a farm near Anthon, where they farmed until 1973, when they moved into Anthon.

He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Midway, where he was baptized and confirmed.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 61 years, Wilma; a son and his wife, Kevin and Martee Heinse of Anthon; two brothers and their wives, Fred and Jeanette Heinse of Anthon and Ed and Lucille Heinse of rural Anthon; two sisters, Frieda Mickelsen of Anthon and Bertha King of Florida; four grandchildren, Terrance, JoLynn, Mikki and Justus; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Alexis; and many good friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
