Arthur N. Fulton, 85, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Fred Penner of Glendale Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the 185th Iowa Air National Guard. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Arthur was born Oct. 20, 1917, in Sioux City, to Samuel and Mary (Fulton) Fulton. He attended Sioux City schools and graduated from East High School in 1936. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army air Corps, which later became the U.S. Air Force. He was discharged in 1960.

He married Mabel Felix on Dec. 6, 1945, at Glendale Baptist Church in Sioux City. He was employed with Bowlmor Bowling Alley in Sioux City for 18 years, where he was responsible for operations and mechanics. Mrs. Fulton died Dec. 31, 1961, in Sioux City.

He was an active member of Glendale Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School secretary, on the board of deacons, the board of trustees and as treasurer and assistant treasurer for many years. During the 1960s, he was very active in Little League and American Legion baseball, where he served as president of both. During the 1970s and 1980s, he was very active in American Legion Post 64, where he served as commander for three terms and as adjutant for several years. He enjoyed traveling, his children, his eight grandchildren, his five great-grandchildren, friends, working in his gardens and working with his computer.

He is survived by two sons and their wives, Jeffrey and Diana of Sioux City and Kerry and Regina of Arlington, Texas; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Darrell; three brothers and a sister.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be directed to Glendale Baptist Church.
