Martha M. Olson, 90, former Sioux City resident died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at a nursing home in South Ogden, Utah, following a brief illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Daniel B. Thompson of Plymouth Covenant Church in Minneapolis officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Olson was born Oct. 16, 1912, in Kief, N.D., to Andrew and Elizabeth (Sehr) Schmidt. In 1927, she moved with her parents to Tacoma, Wash., and attended business college there. She and her sister moved to Le Mars, Iowa, and then to Sioux City.

She married Warren Olson on Jan. 20, 1934, at First Covenant Church in Sioux City. Mr. Olson died Nov. 20, 1998, in Sioux City. She was employed as a teacher at Edwards Business College. She was also employed in the Recorders Office at the Woodbury County Courthouse.

While in Sioux City, she was a member of First Covenant Church.

She is survived by her son and his wife, Richard "Dick" and Madalene Olson of Ogden, Utah; a sister, Helen Roach of Sioux City; three granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
