SIOUX CITY -- Leslie B. Triplett, 80, of Horn Lake, Miss., formerly of Sioux City, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 19, 2010, in Horn Lake.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Dr. Floyd E. Brown officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a 7 p.m. Masonic service by the Decatur Lodge, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Leslie was born Jan. 20, 1930, in Louisville, Miss., to Lee and Anna (Peyton) Triplett. He grew up working in the cotton fields of Mississippi. In 1955, he moved to the state of Iowa.

He married Mayaldria Coleman on Oct. 28, 1958, in Sioux City. She died April 16, 2004. Leslie began his career in the field of construction as a cement finisher for the company of Booth and Olsen. In 1962, he began working for Irving F. Jensen Company. He worked there from 1962 to 1982. During his 20 years of employment, Leslie earned honors of the Two Mile a Day Paving Club. In 1982, Leslie became the proud owner of his own construction company, TBJ Corporation, which he operated for over 10 years. He had a reputation of running one of the best construction companies, working the states of Nebraska, Iowa and Colorado. Leslie worked with great pride on any road he paved.

He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and most other outdoor activities. Leslie became a member of Decatur Masonic Lodge 14 A.F. & A.M. in 1969, and remained a faithful member reaching the degree of Tyler of the Lodge. In 1990, he became a Christian and joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a dedicated deacon and had served as chairman of the trustee board. Leslie had recently relocated to Horn Lake, Miss., and established Brown Missionary Baptist Church as his new church home.

Survivors include seven children, Kathy Hodges of Noxapater, Miss., Larry Triplett of Atlanta, Ga., Janice Triplett of Horn Lake, Miss., Paul (Tarsha) Triplett of Olive Branch, Miss., Tammy (Michael) Thedford of Sioux City, Kurt Triplett of Atlanta, Ga., Stacy Triplett of Horn Lake, and Terry Reed (his adoptive daughter) of Kansas City, Mo.; four sisters, Sylvia Jackson of Louisville, Miss., Geneva Hickman of Louisville, Jesse Peer of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mary Seals of Sioux City; two brothers, Walter Triplett of Louisville, Miss., and James Triplett of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Avery, Ashton, Natalie, Charles, Carmetta and Dennis; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 48 years, Mayaldria; a sister, Ida Lee; and a brother, Ernest Earl Triplett.

Pallbearers will be Carl Fenceroy, Oliver Fenceroy Sr., James Fenceroy, Andrew Pearson, Dan Ford, Lee Thomas, Steve Rainey and Don Scarlett.
