CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- Ernest "Bud" George Jeffrey, 85, of Correctionville passed away on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2007, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ in Correctionville, with Pastor Barb Joy officiating. Burial will be in Correctionville Cemetery, with a flag presentation by the American Legion Mumford-Moon Post 79 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Sioux Valley Post 1750. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville.

Bud was born Aug. 5, 1922, in Correctionville, to Ernest and Inez (Streeter) Jeffrey.

He was united in marriage to Eileen Wright on June 30, 1953. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946, serving proudly in World War II. During his life, he was engaged in farming, trucking and corn shelling.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen of Correctionville, Iowa; a son, Robert (Deb) of Correctionville; three daughters, Susan (Ken) Hiner of Grinnell, Iowa, Karen (Larry) Wink of Anthon, Iowa, and Marilyn Kurtz of Sioux City; a brother, Harold "Ole" Jeffrey of Correctionville; two sisters, Frances Florke and Opal Forch, both of Sioux City; his mother-in-law, Maxine Wright of Correctionville; 11 grandchildren, Brant and Blake Jeffrey, Chad, Cally and Chay Lewis, Billie (Lincoln) Umbach, Jaclynn (Kevin) Clausen, Cathy (Andy) Borst, Bobby (Bobbie) Jeffrey, Tressa and Ashton Kurtz; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Darrell "D.J.;" five siblings, Raymond, Bessie, Robert, Ellen and Albert.

Pallbearers will be Tim Petersen, Tom Petersen, Tom Henrichsen, Gary Hoppe, Keith Hansen and Randy Hansen. Honorary pallbearers will be Albert Henrichsen, Ray Miller, Gerald Perkins and Frank Hoppe.
