Funeral services for Jacob Stackerl, 91, 1525 Douglas, Sioux City, IA, were held at the Cathedral of the Epiphany Catholic Church with the Rev. T. M. Coghlan celebrant. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Perasso Brothers Funeral Home.

Jacob Stackerl was born in 1844 in Bavaria, Germany and immigrated to the United States as a young child with his parents Michael and Anna (Schindler) Stackerl. Along with many relations, the family lived in the Kingston, NY area before they settled in the Dyersville, Dubuque County, Iowa area. The name was Americanized from Stoeckl when they immigrated to the U.S.

Active pallbearers were Odil English, Edward J. English, E. Charles Counsell, Jacob S. Counsell, Humphrey Statter, Sr. and Humphrey Statter, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers were James P. Mulhall, Sr., John Mulhall, F.W. Wicks of Scotland, SD., Judge E.G. Smith of Vermillon, Oscar Ruff, J.W. Currier, Dr. William Jepson, James M. Brown of Aberdeen, SD and Judge Robert H. Munger.

Survivors include three daughters, Lillie (Charles A.) Kneedler, Estella (Humphrey Sr.) Statter, and Catherine (Odill) English.

Preceding him in death were: his parents Michael and Anna Stackerl; sisters Barbara (John) Bohnekamp Noethe and Anna Maria Stackerl; brother Joseph; wife Abbie (Dillon) Stackerl; daugthers Dr. Mary Counsell, MD and Annie Stackerl; and sons Arthur and Charles.
