Betty Lou Suhr, 66, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Morningside Lutheran Church, 700 S. Martha St., with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, 6605 Morningside Ave. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapel.com.

Betty was born July 20, 1940 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of William and Doris (Hinrickson) Morgan. She attended Maple Valley High School.

She married Verdeen O. "Dean" Suhr in June 1, 1958, in Anthon, Iowa. In June 1958, she was confirmed into the Lutheran faith. The couple made Grand Meadow, Iowa their home until moving to Sioux City in 1959. She worked at Woolworth and F. W. Means prior to the birth of her daughters. In 1973, when both of her daughters were in school, she went to work for Grants Department Store. She eventually returned to F. W. Means, where she became a production supervisor.

She was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included gardening, fishing, cooking, bowling, collecting angels and dolls, water aerobics and dancing. She especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and granddogs.

Survivors include her husband, Dean; two daughters and their husbands, Lisa and Dave Larson of Sioux City and Julie and James Lewis of Davenport, Iowa; three granchilidren, Mallory Renee Suhr Larson, Zachary Dean Suhr Larson and Adam Arlis Suhr Larson; two sisters, Helen Hesse of South Sioux City and Doris and her husband, Jim Mauch of Soldier, Iowa; six brothers and their spouces, Leo and Charlotte Morgan of Walthill, Neb., Jim and Frances Morgan of Kiron, Iowa, Waler and Betty Morgan of Castana, Iowa, Danny and Louise Morgan of Sioux City, Rex and Deb Morgan of Castana, Iowa, and Larry Morgan of Council Bluffs, Iowa; to brothers-in-law, and their spouses, Lester and Janette Suhr of Alta, Iowa and Arlo and Pearl Suhr of Correctionville, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, William Morgan Jr.; and her mother and father-in-law Hans and Elise Suhr.

Pallbearers will be Chad Morgan, Philip Morgan, Wally Morgan, Troy Mesenbrink. Bud Morgan and Leonard Morgan. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.
