Oto, Iowa--Margaret Bernice "Bernie" O'Connell, 85, died Monday, Dec, 25, 1995, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oto, with the Rev. Edmund Tiedemann officiating. Burial will be in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 p.m. today, with a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. at St Mary's Church. Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. O'Connell was born Oct. 1, 1910, at Neola, Iowa, the daughter of JOhn James and Vera Emma (Clark) Dixon. She married Paul Timothy O'Connell May 15, 1939, at the St Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon. She lived in the Anthon, Battle Creek, Smithland and Oto areas. She taught in Woodbury County rural schools for ten years. She farmed with her husband for more than 30 years.

Mrs. O'Connell was a member of the St Mary's Catholic Church and the Alter Society.

Survivors include her husband, one son and his wife, Joe and Doris of Oto: three sisters, Emma Coyne of Manson, Iowa, Patricia Lacey of Atlanta, Ga, and Mary Weber of SIoux City, three brothers, James Dixon of Moville, Iowa, Francis of Anthon, Iowa and Paul of Sterling, Colo: seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ed, Leo, Cletus and Raymond.
