Raymond Saxen was born September 27, 1930, near Holstein, Iowa, the son of Henry and Anna Saxen. On February 20, 1952, the married Joyce Elaine Jenness of Correctionville, daughter of Elizabeth Henrietta and Elvin Floyd Jenness, Sr, at the Meadow Star Church Parsonage, rural Washta.

Raymond attended school at Holstein, Iowa, and worked as a farm hand in that area until he entered the Army in 1951. After he had served two years in the Korean Conflict, they moved from Correctionville to the Hariett Bruene farm two miles south of Pierson. They lived there for twenty-two years and raised three children: Jennice Ellen, born December 12, 1954; Jean Evelyn, born August 12, 1956; Gary Ray, born October 12, 1958.

Their children all attended and graduated from the Kingsley-Pierson School system. All are members of the Hillside Church of Christ, rural Correctionville, whose minister is Rev Russ Rodgers of Sioux City.

Raymond farmed with his brother, Robert, until he quit farming and moved to Pierson in December of 1977. He has been employed at the Pierson Elevator since 1970.

Joyce graduated from Correctionville Community school in 1952 and was employed as a telephone operator in Correctionville until their first daughter was born. She worked as correspondent for the Pierson Press and as office girl, in the same establishment, worked several years as part time Nurses Aide at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Correctionville, and is currently employed with Siouxland Regional Transit System as a rural Mini-Bus driver since 1975.

Jennice Ellen had the honor of representing Pierson at the Woodbury County Fair Queen Contgest in Moville the summer of 1973 and was selected to be the County Queen at the fair, later going to Des Moines to the State Fair Competition. In Jennice’s class at school she met Don Kevin Reimert, whom she later married.

Don Kevin Reimert was born January 16, 1956, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, to Ethel and Quinton Reimert. In February, 1969, Don with is parents and sisters, Debras, Audrey and Robin and brother, Alan, moved to Correctionville, Iowa, where they lived on several farms in the Pierson and Kingsley area. Don graduated with Jennice from Kingsley-Pierson High School in 1973. After high school, Don joined the Navy and Jennice attended Western Iowa Technical School of Nursing. On September 20, 1974, they were married in the Pensacola, Florida, Naval Chapel with both sets of parents in attendance and her mother as her bridesmaid. On a warm sunny February 10, 1976, Jessica Dawn Reimert was born in a Navy Hospital at Pensacola.

When Don’s enlistment ended in October, 1977, they returned to Pierson to live. Jennice went back to school to receive her Registered Nurse’s certificate from WIT. Don also took mechanics and Rental Management courses at WIT. In November of 1982 Don re-enlisted in the Navy for six yars and was sent to the Naval Base in Norfolk, Virginia. Jennice and Jessica joined Don and are living at Newport News, Virginia.

Jean Evelyn graduated in May, 1974, and also had the honor of representing Pierson at the Woodbury County Fair Queens Contest, sponsored by Bakers Dozen. In July of 1973 she won a week trip to the RH camp at Madrid, Iowa, from the Woodbury County REC Essay Contest. Jean went on to Western Iowa Technical Community College in Sioux City for clerical training. Upon completing the course in February, 1975, she moved to Cherokee where she secured a position with the City of Cherokee where she secured a position with the City of Cherokee as a water billing clerk typist for the City Clerk; after a short time she was promoted to Deputy City Clerk.

Jean married Jerry Young on February 12, 1977, at Galva, Iowa. Jerry is the son of Carolyn and James Young of Galva and was born January 28, 1952. He graduated from Galva Community High School in May, 1970, going on to graduate from the University of Northern Iowa as a major in accounting, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting.

In November, 1977, they moved to Marshalltown, Iowa, where they are buying their home. Jerry is on the audit staff of McGladrey Hendrickson & Co, a CPA firm, and Jean is head bookkekeper of Mid Iowa Community Action Inc, in Marshalltown, a nonprofit, anti-poverty agency.

Gary Ray graduated May 18, 1978. In the fall of that year he began mechanic classesa t Western Iowa Technical College at Sioux City, graduating in August of 1979. Gary worked for a short time at Vollmar Motors in Holstein and is presently employed with Holdenried Ford in Sioux City. In the spring of 1982, Gary moved from Pierson to an apartment in LeMars.
