Charles G Washburn
By Loraine E WashburnCharles G Washburn was the eldest of the seven generations of the Washburn family who lived in Woodbury County, Iowa. Charles was born about 1815 in New York or Vermont. He was married in the 1830s to Ann Parker. On the 1850 Federal Census of Oldham County, Kentucky he was listed as a wood dealer. Also living in the household were Jesse and Nancy Parker, who were probably the parents of Ann, and Lemuel Parker, age 21, who was probably a brother of Ann, as well as seven of the children of Charles and Ann.
We do not know when Charles and Ann came to Woodbury County, but suspect it was about the same time as their son, Jesse. On the 1880 Federal Census of Sloan Township, Woodbury County, Iowa, Charles was listed as a retired farmer, age 63, born New York. Charles died in 1882 and is buried in Sloan Township cemetery.
