Francis Rose was born 28 December 1831 in France and was married to Eugene Genet ‘Jennie’ in 1848. Jennie was born in 1834. They sailed from LeHavre, France aboard the S.S.J.H. Jarvis with their two children, Mary and Amelia, and also Eugene’s mother, Mrs Sophia Genet. It took them 63 days before they arrived in New Orleans. From there they journeyed up the Mississippi to Dubuque, Iowa. There Joseph, John, and Josephine were born to them.

In 1864 they went to Wisconsin where Jane was born in 1866. They went back to Dubuque where Frank, George, and Addie were born. Then they moved in 1874 to Ida Grove where Mame and Elmer were born. They then moved to Woodbury County in 1884. Francis died in 1901 and Jennie died in 1928.

Mary married James Carnes; Amelia married John Mentnitch; Joseph married Lucy Smith; Josephine married John M Edwards; Jane married William Rathbun; Frank married Nora Stikman; George married Glenna Brown; Addie married Edward George Watkins; Mame married Thomas Fitzpatrick; and Elmer married Lulu Downey, No. 2 Florence. These children settled in Ida, Monona, and Woodbury counties. They were farmers and blacksmiths.
