LeRoy Albert ‘Pat’ Peterson, August 9, 1902 to January 2, 1967, on February 15, 1928, married Ellen C Olson, on November 29, 1901, at Sioux City, Iowa. They farmed at Smithland where their daughter, Dorothy Ellen was born March 19, 1930. They moved to Sergeant Bluff for six months in 1932 where Pat worked at the brickyard then back to a farm at Turin where their daughter, Betty Ann, was born September 20, 1933. They moved to Sergeant Bluff permanently in 1934 and Pat went back to work at the brick yard; his salary was approximately $14.00 a week.

During World War II, Pat worked at the Sioux City Air Base as a boiler fireman. Ellen worked for H O and Addie Petersen doing house work and caring for Bruce. Pat and Ellen bought their home at 403 E Street in 1951 from D D Dewey, Sr.; the price $3, 600.00. Ellen still lives there; Pat died in 1967.

Dorothy graduated in 1947 and went to work for Dun & Bradstreet until she married Elbert Sargent in 1948, (see Sargent history). Betty graduated in 1951 and worked in Sioux City for the YMCA, Mahoney Motors, and the Sioux City Journal. She married Airman 1st Class Roland DeGeest, April 3, 1955. They have two sons: Bradley Gene, born March 3, 1956; and Michael Lloyd, born April 1, 1959. Both boys attended Sergeant Bluff schools and Western Iowa Tech. Community College. Brad works at Iowa Beef Processors and Mike for Northwest Iowa Telephone Company. Roland ‘Whitey’ is a Master Sgt in the Air Force; Betty has worked for the school system in Sergeant Bluff several years and now is employed at Western Hills Area 12 in Sioux City.
