James Flaviel Heacock, son of E V and Edna (Woods) Heacock, was born at Battle Creek, Iowa, May 27, 1929.

His parents moved from Danbury to Pierson, Iowa, when he was one year old. He attended the Pierson Consolidated School, graduating with the class of 1947. He attended Morningside College, graduating with a B A degree in May 1951. He then attended Oklahoma State University and received his Masters Degree and Doctor of Philosophy Degree. He spent two years in the Army. During this time he was stationed at the Army Chemical Center in Maryland.

On May 28, 1957, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Marie Whyte, daughter of Earl and Isabel Whyte of Cushing, Iowa. Their son, James Thomas, was born March 12, 1958, and their daughter, Patricia Marie, was born June 15, 1960. Both children graduated from the Circleville High School in Circleville, Ohio.

After graduation form high school, James T attended Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, graduating in June, 1981. He was married to Nancy Sue Barr form Akron, Ohio, July 25, 1982. Patricia Marie graduated from Miami University at Oxford, Ohio, in December of 1983.
