George Hummel I: born Alsace-Lorraine. Killed in Action. Fought under Napoleon III. One son.

George II: born July 5, 1845, Alsace-Lorraine. Died March 23, 1932, Smithland, Iowa. Married February 10, 1870, Katherine Fellman, daughter of Joseph and Mary Fellman. Born December 28, 1852, in Pennsylvania. Died December 1930. She moved with her parents to Kentucky and later to Peoria, Illinois. George came in Buffalo, New York, when he was twenty-one. He went to Peoria, and worked in the coal mines. They came to Iowa and first settled in Pottawattamie County, Avoca, Iowa. They bought sixty-five acres of land at $9 an acre. Shortly after that the railroad came through Avoca and they sold the land for $25 an acre in 1882 and came to Woodbury County. They bought 240 acres of land in Little Sioux Township for $4 an acre. They lived in Smithland in their later years. Eight children, two died young.

Dominic F: born in 1875. Married Pauline Steinhoff. One son, Paul, married. Four children.

Anna: Born 1877. Married Ben Brown, 11 children; three children; Zella married Merrill Crary, no children; Austin married Adeline Larsen, no children; Ariel married Dorothy Larsen, two children; Masel married AA Martin, five children; Benjamin married, wife Georgia, two sons; George married, wife Winefred, three children; Verna married Willis Phelps, four children.

Eva: born 1880. Married William Christman, one son, Harold, married to Albertine Hall, two children. She died. Married Evelyn Christensen, four children.

Malvian: born 1885. Married Clifford Taylor, four daughters. Lucille married E F Michner, two sons; Fern Johnson, married, no children; Carol Steinbach Hiends, married, two sons; Donna B Meyers, married, two children.

Goldie: born 1888. Married Earl Leech. Children, Clifford, Dorothea and Donald.

Joseph Jacob: born April 18, 1873, at Peoria, Illinois. Died April 29, 1965, at Vinton, Iowa. Married January 31, 1900, to Alice Eliza Smith, daughter of Martin and Mary Means Smith. Born February 28, 1879, at Council Bluffs, Iowa. Died July 26, 1951. Joseph moved with his parents to Avoca, Iowa later to Woodbury County. Joe and Alice lived on a farm five miles west of Oto, Iowa. They lived there until 1918 when they moved on a farm south of Oto, where they lived until March 1945. They had a sale and moved to Vinton, Iowa, seven children, Gladys died at ten months; Amber married William Eldridge, seven children; Perry married Mae Paisley, nine children; Elma married Wallace Goulden, no children; Erma married H B Cooper, two children; Darrell married Dorothy Cox, one daughter, married Josephine Livermore. Two children. Married Gladys Lund, five children.

Paul George: born January 12, 1912, Woodbury County, Grant Township. Married June 9, 1930, to Opal Fern Coon, daughter of P Virgil and Bessie Phillips Coon. Born March 13, 1911. They bought the farm five miles west of Oto where they lived until they built a home four miles west of Oto in 1967. Six children.

Philip Virgil: born January 31, 1931. Married June 9, 1951, to Delores Baird, daughter of Wilbur and Betty Baird. Live in Moville, works for REC. Five children: Susan married Dennis Dyvig; Deborah married Kent Wahlberg; Clark married Lori Cassens; Dawn; Laurie.

Janet Ruth: born January 4, 1933. Married August 1, 1951, P David Goodrich, Jr, son of Platt and Faye Goodrich. They farm near Climbing Hill. One son, Michael.

Margie Jo Ann: born October 4, 1934. Married March 26, 1957, Frank Ross. She lives at Climbing Hill. Two sons, Gregory married Cathy Kier, on daughter, Kim.

Paul Richard: born July 23, 1938. Married August 17, 1958, to LaDonna Lee, daughter of Veryl and Viola Lee. Farmed; bought the home place in 1967. Lived there until 1981. Moved to Rapid City, South Dakota. Work for a Jewelry Company. Three children: Jeffery married Sandy Bremer, on son; DeAnn; Pamela.

Randall Warren: born November 23, 1943. Married December 31, 1973, to Jean Green, daughter of Colin and Margy Green. Live at Homer, Nebraska, carpenter. Two sons, Ned and Neil.

Ella June: born June 1, 1945. Married December 20, 1963, to Ray C Daily, son of Vernon and Viola Heck. Lived at El Paso, Texas. CPA. Bought home place west of Oto in 1981; August 1983 moved there. Two children, Jennifer and Brian.
