William James McGregor has been a Woodbury County resident for thirty-three years. He was born in Yankton, South Dakota, on May 27, 1943, to Ralph Joseph and Jane Mercedes (Dougherty( McGregor. When William was two or three years old, his parents and older brother, Murray, moved to LeMars, Iowa. They lived there until William was seven, then moved to Sioux City where he has resided ever since. Both his paternal, Edgar Lewis and Susan McGregor, and maternal, Phillip and Margaret Dougherty, grandparents resided in Hartington and Newcastle, Nebraska.

William attended grade school at Cathedral and graduated from Heelan Catholic High in 1963. After graduation, he joined the 185th Air National Guard. While serving in this unit he was activated to active duty between January 1968 to May 1969 and was sent to Phu Cat, Viet Nam form May 1968 to May 1969.

William was a salesman for Cook Paint and Iowa Paint for a total of fourteen years. In 1977 he bought his own company known as Quad States Caulking. He has been a coach for Morningside Little League for two years and enjoys camping, fishing and remodeling his house.

William married Francine May Kirsch on May 13, 1967, at St Philip Catholic Church in Hornick, Iowa. To this union were born three sons: Scott William, February 17, 1968; Kevin Patrick, December 5, 1970, and Brian Jeffrey, June 6, 1973.

Francine has worked as a secretary at Cook Paint, Carpenter Paper Company, and is now at East High School. For seven years she was a T-ball Baseball coach. She too enjoys camping, fishing, sewing, garden work and genealogy.
