Philip John McBride was born on October 9, 1951, in Sioux City, the fifth child of Robert T and Mary R (Mertes) McBride. Phil spent his childhood years in the family home which was located on the corner of 18th and Grandview. Phil graduated from Central High School in 1970.

In 1982, Phil married Lynne Rae Thoreson, who was the second and youngest child of Raymond V and Maxine (Longlee) Thoreson. Lynne grew up on the family farm which is located in Concord Township of Woodbury County.

Lynne Rae was born April 14, 1954 at Onawa, Iowa. Her family moved to this county in 1956 and this is where the family is form today. Lynne attended Lawton-Bronson Community School and Western Iowa Tech.

We now make our home on an acreage which is located in Plymouth County near Sioux City. In 1982, Phil and his brother Pat built a new home on the acreage. This is now where all the family gets together for visits and holidays.
