Paul Malloy, son of John and Catherine Dunn Malloy, was born on the farm where he now lives, August 8, 1916. Paul has farmed the home place around forty years, and also operated a gravel truck business, known as Malloy’s Trucking. He is a member of the Pioneer Saddle Club of Smithland, Iowa.

Paul’s father, John, was a survivor of the 1899 tornado that killed five members of his family in Salix. Paul has two sisters: Anna Marie Simpson, Las Vegas, Nevada; and Elizabeth Burkhardt of Holstein, Iowa. One brother, Tom, of Salix, died in 1974.

Mr Malloy married Ella Chesley, of Sioux City, May 18, 1942. She is the daughter of Ambrose and Bernice Pilgrim Chesley. Ella has four sisters: Joyce Bressler, South Sioux City, Nebraska; Lorraine Buckner, Florence Colman, both of Sioux City; and Gladys Hoverman, Covina, California, and two brothers, Glenn Chesley of Sioux City, and Don Chesley, of Moville, Iowa.

Paul and Ella have two children. Patricia Ann, born August 1, 1945, married James Heren, of Hinton, September 14, 1965. They have two children, Kelly Kay, and Shelly Rae, and they reside in Sioux City.

Michael married Barbara Lynn Walveston, of Laurens, Iowa, November 20,. 1976. They have two children, Brenda Michelle, and Bradley Michael. Michael and his family made their home on the family farm south of Salix.
