Rosa ‘Rose’ Ellen Winterringer was born at Maquoketa, Iowa, on October 25, 1877. Her mother was Sarah Beaver Winterringer. She came to Woodbury County in 1880. She grew up on the farm near Peiro, Grant Township, Woodbury County, Iowa. She attended the Winterringer School (Grant Township 9).

Rose was married December 22, 1909, at Peiro to Ira Franklin Kelsey. He had been born May 31, 1875, in Perry County, Illinois. His parents were Henry Kelsey and --- Hyland. Ira and Rose had four daughters, Irene Elizabeth was born at Willow, September 24, 1911; Lucille was born December 6, 1912, at Sergeant Bluff; Viola Ione was born June 24, 1914 at Oto; and Elsie Ellen was born February 13, 1919, at 2700 South Cypress Street in Sioux City, Iowa.

The family lived in the 2600 block of South Cedar Street; this was an acreage at that time. The girls attended Whittier Grade School and graduated from East High School.

Irene was married August 29, 1932, to Louis D Lamb, born November 11, 19006, in Sioux City. He worked on the Railroad. Their son, Leo Louis Frank Lamb, was born June 2, 1933, in Sioux City. They lived in Sioux City for several years, then moved to St James, Minnesota, for a time, and then made their home in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Louis died there in 1970. Leo is married and living in California; they have children. Irene still makes her home in Minneapolis.

Lucille married Walter Larsen on June 1, 1934, at Sioux City. They lived at Akron, Iowa. They had one daughter, Dianne Rosemarie Larsen, born March 7, 1943, at Akron, Plymouth County, Iowa. Walter passed away after a long illness. Sometime later Lucille married Joe Paulsen; they lived in Yankton, South Dakota, and spent winters in Texas, they now live there.

Viola worked as a secretary for many years, then was married October 25, 1937, to Clarence Schlotman; they made their home on Texas Avenue in Sioux City. Their two sons are: Clyde Vincent, born November 1, 1943, and Sidney. They have both married and have children.

Elsie married Eddie Donnelly and lived in California. They had a son; all of their family has passed on. Elsie died August 13, 1947, in Redwood City, California; burial was in Graceland Cemetery, Sioux City, Iowa. Ira’s death was on April 3, 1955, in Sioux City. He, too, is buried at Graceland.
