Harold Leroy and Charlotte Zita Lamoureux Mook

Harold Leroy Mook was the 3rd child born to Roy Mook and Frances Clara Frangenberg, on July 6, 1926 in Union Township in Plymouth County, Iowa. On August 24, 1926 he was baptized Catholic at St Marys Catholic Church in Remsen, Iowa. He alter moved with his parents to Salix, Iowa, where he attended St Joseph’s School. During World War II he served with the US Navy, joining on June 6, 1944. He completed his basic training at Farragut, Idaho and was stationed at Shoemaker, California, and Honolulu, Hawaii. While stationed in Hawaii, he and his brother, Lloyd, who was also serving with the Navy, were united for a short time there. Harold was honorably discharged on May 25, 1946 at Minneapolis, Minnesota. After the war he returned to school and completed his high school education, graduating in 1947.

Living in a farming community, Harold’s first job was a farm hand. He later pursued his career as Manager of a dredging company. He worked his way up forma a deck hand on the Missouri, Mississippi, and other rivers in southern United States, moving where the jobs were available and the weather permitted this type of work. He and his family have lived in many states, including Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, Mississippi, Kentucky, Louisiana, Tennessee, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, Texas, Ohio and Nebraska. Harold is a self-taught Engineer and has gained a wealth of knowledge on the rivers. In his spare time he has built two large boats which he has used in his work.

Being an outdoor enthusiast Harold has enjoyed the sport of hunting and fishing. The area where he lived as a youth was within a mile of the Missouri River and wildlife and fish were plentiful there. He has also been active in auto racing and car repair.

Harold Leroy Mook and Charlotte Zita Lamoureux were married on February 9, 1948 at Salix, Iowa. She was born May 22, 1930 at Salix, to Henry Lamoureux and Louise Copenhaver. Harold and Charlotte are the parents of five children: Ronald, Kenneth, Gary, Charlene and Pamela.

Ronald Harold Mook, the 1st child born to Harold Mook and Charlotte Lamoureux was born July 4, 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from high school at St Claire, Missouri in 1967. He served with the US Army during the Vietnam war and was discharged June 1, 1973. Ron married Vickie Roson Karabel on November 30, 1973 in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born August 1, 1949 to Robert George Karabel and Dolores Eileen Rudnick. Ron and Vickie have two children: Susan Eileen Mook who was born November 4, 1973, in Omaha; and Nicholas Mook who was born August 31, 1979, in Memphis, Tennessee.

Ronald Mook was married the second time to Dawn Massengill on July 9, 1983 at Memphis, Tennessee. She was born July 9, 1983 at Memphis. She was born June 22, 1958, at Meridan, Connecticut, to Eddie Bandecchi and Nancy Jane Russell. Dawn has a son, Jason Massengill who was born July 14, 1978 in Tupelo, Mississippi. Ron and Dawn now reside in Memphis.

Kenneth James Mook, second child of Harold Mook and Charlotte Lamoureux was born July 3, 1949 in Sioux City. He married Vickie Lee Napier, March 2, 1968, at St Claire, Missouri. She was born there on September 1, 1950. Three children were born to this union: Scott James Mook was born September 19, 1968, at Waterloo, Iowa; Paige Lyne Mook was born June 10, 1970 at Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Brett Lee Mook was born November 26, 1971 at Belleville, Illinois.

Kenneth James Mook lost his life on January 18, 1974 at Carthage, Tennessee. He was operator of a large boat during the high water season. The boat overturned in the ravaging waters and Kenneth was drowned. His body was never found.

Gary Roy Mook was the 3rd child born to Harold Mook and Charlotte Lamoureux on March 15, 1951 at Little Rock, Arkansas. He died as an infant on February 16, 1952 at Little Rock.

Charlotte Jean Mook, the 4th child, was born to Harold Mook and Charlotte Lamoureux on November 26, 1952 at Sioux City. She married James Philip Dalton on December 11, 1971, at Manson, Iowa. They have lived in Minnesota, South Dakota, Illinois and now reside in Manson, Iowa, where they are now both employed, Charlene with a bank and Jim as a salesman. They are the parents of three children: Justin Edward Dalton who was born April 3, 1973, at Shakopee, Minnesota; Brooke Laurell Dalton was born February 10, 1975 at Shakopee; and Joshua John Dalton was born March 13, 1977, at Yankton, South Dakota.

Pamela Ann Mook, the 5th child, was born to Harold Mook and Charlotte Lamoureux on May 19, 1957, at Cairo, Illinois. She married on July 5, 1977, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Patrick Clement Papke. He was born March 3, 1949, at Andrews Air Force Base, Washington, DC. His parents are Edward and Alice Papke. Pam and Pat now reside in Memphis, and are the parents of two children: Kimberly Ann Papke, born May 14, 1978 at Michigan City, Indiana; and Adam Patrick Papke was born January 25, 1981, in Memphis.
