Dewayne Edward Mook was the 5th child born to Roy Mook and Frances Frangenberg on January 21, 1931, at Westfield, Iowa, in Plymouth County. He attended St Joseph’s School at Salix, Iowa, and graduated in 1951. His first job was as a deck hand with a dredging operation on the Missouri River and for a time he worked at the stockyards in Sioux City, Iowa. He alter moved to Des Moines where he was employed at Swift & Company and was also an independent dealer for Northern Propane Gas Company. For many years he worked, part time, as a meat cutter at a store in Cumming, Iowa. In 1957 he enlisted in the US Army National Guard at Camp Dodge, Iowa, and was discharged in March 1959 as a Sergeant First Class. On April 18, 1953, he married Hollis Dee Holden at St Joseph’s Catholic Church at Salix, Iowa. Dee was born to Charles Gerald Holden and Mildred Myrtle Snyder on February 19, 1933, at Castana and Des Moines and graduated from the Salix Community High School in 1952. Dee has attended many classes on cake decorating and candy making in Minneapolis, Ft Wayne, Indiana, Michigan and Delaware, and is a professional cake decorator and candy maker in Des Moines. She has had entries in cake shows in Albuquerque, Rochester, Providence, Rhode Island, Aurora, Illinois, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Louisville, Kentucky and won many ribbons for her decorating. She is also very adept at other crafts, such as quilting, dressing, fine needlework and the making of silk flowers.

After Dee and Dewayne were married they took up residence at Norwalk, Iowa, and four children were born to them: Lawrence Edward, Janet Marie, Michael David and Paul Joseph.

Dewayne Mook died in an industrial accident while employed at Swift & Company on February 21, 1979, at Des Moines, Iowa and is buried at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at Orilla, Iowa. Throughout his lifetime, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family.

Lawrence Edward Mook ‘Larry’ was the first child born to Dewayne Mook and Dee Holden on June 26, 1954 at Des Moines, Iowa. He attended school at Norwalk, Iowa, and graduated from high school in 1973. He is employed with the Mobile Blood Bank Unit in Des Moines. His many hobbies are hunting, fishing, bowling and playing softball with a team. HE married Sherrie Kay Lamb at St John’s Catholic Church at Cumming, Iowa, on June 18, 1977. She was born on May 9, 1958, to Richard Lamb and Karen Ackerman. He secondly married Susan Rae Ripperger Bishop on February 14, 1981, at Des Moines, Iowa. She was born September 6, 1960, at Des Moines to Russell John Ripperger and Nattie Pauline Kimbery. Sue is employed at an insurance company in Des Moines. Larry and Sue are the parents of Travis John Mook ‘T J’, who was born August 23, 1981, at Des Moines, Iowa. Sue also has a daughter by a previous marriage, Brandie Sue Bishop who was born February 12, 1979, at Des Moines, Iowa. Larry and Sue and family now reside in Des Moines.

Janet Marie Mook, the 2nd child of Dewayne Mook and Dee Holden was born October 5, 1955, at Des Moines, Iowa. She attended school at Norwalk, Iowa, and graduated in 1974. She attended classes at several schools. She is now employed with an insurance company in Des Moines. On August 7, 1982 she married Wayne A Hall at Jester Park at Granger, Iowa. Wayne was born September 18, 1956, at Des Moines, Iowa, to Wayne Hall and Darlene Bickel. He is employed in Des Moines as an auto mechanic. He graduated from Tech High School in 1976. Wayne and Janet now live in Des Moines, Iowa.

Michael David Mook, the 3rd child of Dewayne Mook and Dee Holden was born June 20, 1961 at Des Moines, Iowa. He attended school at Norwalk and graduated there in 1981. He is employed as a manager at McDonalds in Des Moines, Iowa.

Paul Joseph Mook was the 4th child born to Dewayne Mook and Dee Holden on June 28, 1963 at Des Moines, Iowa. He attended school at Norwalk and graduated in 1982. Paul played basketball for Norwalk High School. He now woks at McDonalds and drives a truck in Des Moines.
