Gary Derue Fey was born August 20, 1943, at Anthon, Iowa, to Henry Ardell and Helen Waunita Fey of Correctionville. He received his twelve yars of education in the Correctionville Public School and graduated in 1961. During high school he worked at a local grocery store. After graduation from high school he worked for Wilson Trailer in Sioux City, and also enlisted in the Air National Guard at Sergeant Bluff.

He took his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He was a weapons mechanic with the 185th Tactical Fighter Squadron. He and his brother, Terry, went as a brother team to Vietnam in 1968 and served a year, being stationed at Phu Cat Air Force Base there. They returned home in 1969. They loaded bombs on F-100 Super Sabres. After returning home, Gary went to Western Iowa Tech in Sioux City and took a course in computer programming. After graduation he went to work at Security National Bank of Sioux City.

On February 7, 1971, Gary married Barbara Ann Busker of Sioux City. They were married at Immaculate Conception Church on Morningside Avenue, of which church they were members. Barbara is a registered nurse and worked in the intensive care units. To this union were born four children: Clinton Jay, Corrine Jennifer, Carla Jean and Catherine Joann.

In 1978, Gary and Barbara sold their home in Sioux City and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where Gary was employed by Kamm Enterprises in the computer field. In November of 1983 he accepted a job with Century Bank in Denver, Colorado. He will work at the main bank as a data processing supervisor and will also supervise Century’s four branch banks, two others in Denver, one in Sterling, Colorado, and one in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They will move later in 1983 or early in 1984 to Denver.

Gary’s hobbies are golfing, skiing, all sports, as well as hiking and picnicing with his family in the Colorado Mountains.
