Anne was born February 8, 1896, at Emmerson Heights, Sioux City, Iowa. She is the daughter of Cyril B enjamin and Minnie Alice Frisbie Erskine. Anne was one of six children. One sister, Marian Alice, lives in Sioux City. Anne attended several schools both in Iowa and Minnesota. One school called the Erskine School located in Grant Township, Monona County, Iowa, was built on property owned by her grandfather, Benjamin L Thomas. It was named the Erskine School because so many Erskine children either taught there or went there to school. Most of thee chidlren were Mr Thomas’ grandchildren. She also attended Longfellow, Central High and Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa.

Anne married Arthur Gruber, October 18, 1937 at Grace Methodist Episcopal Church. Mr Gruber died in 1962.

Starting work at an early age, she worked for Dr Doles in his office, and for Davidson’s Store.

Anne is a member of the Eastern Star Lodge, the Mizpah White Shrine, and the Grace United Methodist Church. She still drives her own car and devotes her time in helping others.
