Marian was born October 11, 1911, at Grant Township, Monona County, Iowa. She is the daughter of Cyril Benjamin and Minnie Alice Frisbie Erskine, and the sister of Vernon, Jesse, Walter, aAnne and Edith.

Marian attended the Erskine School in Grant Township, Monona County, Iowa, and Longfellow and Whittier Schools in Sioux City, graduating form East High.

During World War II, she worked at the Wincharger Factory during war work. Marian never married, but remained in her parents’ home caring for them until their deaths. She is a member of the Eastern Star Lodge and the Grace United Methodist Church.

Marian has several cousins, nieces, and nephews, plus her sister, Anne Gruber, with whom she enjoys spending her time.
