Woodbury County History 1984

Nimrod Burdick
By Mrs Miles Galland

Nimrod Burdick (1831-1917), his wife Mary (1840-1901), and two children, Harvey (1867-1934) and Cora (1869-1945), came to Liberty Township in 1872.

They came by train from New York state and settled on a farm on the banks of Horseshoe Lake, which later was changed to Brown’s Lake.

Another son, Mark, was born after moving here.

Harvey married Lottie Judd, and had no children. Cora married Britten Galland and moved to a farm nearby. Mark married Mayme Baker and moved to the state of Washington.

After his wife’s death, Nimrod stayed on the farm with his son until his death. Harvey continued living on the farm until his death in 1934. Several years later, his wife, Lottie, moved to Salix, and passed away in 1954. Now this farm is a housing development.
