Edward Gregory ‘Bee’ Brown

Edward Gregory ‘Bee’ Brown, son of Luther M and Eunice Brown was born September 13, 1883, at the farm near Sergeant Bluff. He married Mary Emeline Case, born November 29, 1883, and deceased December 6, 1933, in Sioux City on November 29, 1906. Edward Gregory married Ella Loughran, born November 27, 1896, at Ames, Iowa, in 1943. Edward Gregory died in 1975. Ella now lives in Des Moines, Iowa.

Edward Gregory spent all of his adult life as a bee keeper and in the promotion of the cooperative processing nad sale of honey. He, N P Southworth, and Thomas Chantry, organized the Western Honey Producers, a marketing organization in which Edward was active until 1919. In 1921, E G Brown and four associates, better known as Sioux Bee Honey Association. Edward served as president of this organization from 1921 until 1972. During his tenure as president the organization grew to be the world’s largest processor of honey.

Three children were born to Edward Gregory and Mary Emeline: Edward Gregory, Jr., born July 27, 1908 and deceased in 1950; Charles Albert, born October 7, 1909, and Willis Case, born May 2, 1919 and deceased in 1920.

Edward Gregory ‘Ted’ Brown, Jr. married Carol Lucille Bekins, born December 12, 1909, and deceased August 19, 1945, at Phoenix, Arizona, on December 27, 1930. Their children: Barbara Jane, born July 26, 1933; and Shirley Louise, born October 12, 1934.
Edward Gregory, Jr. married Francis Elizabeth McCoy, born November 17, 1905, at Sioux City, June 26, 1947. They have a son, Robert Edward, born June 12, 1948.
Barbara married William Ryan and now lives in Seattle, Washington. The names of Barbara’s children are: William, Patrick, Carol, Edward, and John.
Shirley married Stanley Pohop and lives in Omaha, Nebraska. The names of Shirley’ children are: Sherri, Connie, Patti, and Linda.
Robert Edward resides with his mother in Sioux City.
Charles Albert ‘Bert ’Brown married Alberta May Peterson, born May 1, 1908, deceased July, 1974, at Sergeant Bluff, September 2, 1931. Their children are: Beverly Ann, born July 3, 1934; and David Charles, born June 4, 1941. Charles ‘Bert’ lives in Sioux City.
Beverly Ann married Daryl Jepson and lives in Tea, South Dakota. She has three children: Chris Jepson, Loveland, Colorado; Charles Jepson, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Cherie (Mrs. Timothy) Fudness, Lennox, South Dakota. Cherie has one son, Michael Fudness.
David Charles is currently living in Seattle, Washington.
