Norman and Annette L (Harrison) Custer
By Lorraine E WashburnAnnette Lucia Harrison was born 23 October 1943 at the Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa. She was the younges child of William and Emma (Wulf) Harrison. She attended School at Lawton, Iowa, and graduated from there in 1961 near the top of the class. After graduation she was employed at Bell Telephone in Sioux City, Iowa.
Annette was married at Bethel Lutheran Church, Lawton, Iowa, to Norman Gayle Custer and they resided in Sioux Cirty for a little over a year, after which they rented homes in Lawton, Iowa. In 1968, they purchased a home in Lawton at 110 Birch Street where they still reside.
After taking some time off from work when her children were small, Annette began working for Western Iowa Telephone Association in August of 1977 and is still employed there. She has served as an election Judge for Banner Township, and is currently a member of the school board of Lawton-Bronson. She and her family are avid sports fans. They are members of the Morningside Lutheran Church in Sioux City.
Norman Gayle ‘Norm’ Custer was born 5 January 1943, in Woodbury County. He graduated from Lawton in 1961, the same year as Annette, they had attended school together since kindergarten. Norm is the son of George Custer and Vera Miller, long time farmers near Lawton, currently of Moville, Iowa. Norm went to automotive training at Omaha after graduation for one year, afte which he worked for Dividend Bonded Gas and Terminal Grain, both of Sioux City. In 1966, he became a machinist at Sioux Tools in Sioux City and is still employed there. Norm spends his free time reclaiming lumber from old buildings, reclaiming old tractors and cars, and building trailers.
Annette and Norm are the parents of two sons, Jeffrey Owen was born 27 June 1964, Sioux City. He attended school at Lawton-Bronson, graduating in 1982. He excelled in football and played on the All Stars team that year. He is currently a student at Waldorf College and playing football there.
James Michael was born 31 July 1967, at Sioux City. He has attended Lawton-Bronson Schools and is currently a junior there. His extra-curricular activities include football and vocal music.
