Jacob Brewer, Jr was the 3rd child of Jacob Bieber, Sr and Susanna Keim. Jacob was born Oct 15, 1819, in Berks Co, Pa. He married Elizabeth Landis in about 1843 in Pa. After their marriage they lived in Rockland and Longswamp Twps in Berks County, Pa. Jacob was a shoemaker and farmer and moved from place to place while living there. They had ten children when they moved to Maquoeketa, Iowa, in 1863. They used the surname Beaver after coming to Iowa. They moved to a farm in Grant Township, Woodbury Co, in 1880. Elizabeth died Nov 28, 1894, and was buried in Bethel Cemetery, Grant Township. She had been born Nov 28, 1919, in Pa. On her tombstone is the Bible verse ‘Watch, therefore for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come’ Matthew XXIV 42. Jacob died 11 July 1906; he too is buried in Bethel Cemetery.

Their children were all born in Pennsylvania and were: Mary, Levi, Rachel, Carrie, Daniel, Susie, James, Jacob, Sarah, and Aaron.

Mary Beaver was born July 13, 1844; she married March 3, 1870, in Iowa to George Wendel (born May 7, 1942, died July 26, 1911). They had five children. Mary died Feb 10, 1932; burial was in Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Their children were Frederick, Charles Benjamin, Mary Etta, and Jacob (A) Frederick Otto Wendel was born March 21, 1871. He was married Nov 9, 1893 to Emma Boyd; she was born Feb 17, 1870. They resided in Sioux City and had no children. (B) Charles Henry Wendel was born June 13, 1875, at Oto. He was married 21 Dec 1904 to Mayme Carter. She had been born 15 Oct 1881. They had five children, two dying in infancy. The survivors were: Marion Wendel born April 11, 1909; Ruth Wendel born Jan 6, 1911; and Nina Wendel born Sept 7, 1912. Their residence was at Orchard, Nebraska. Mayme died 18 July 1936. (C) Benjamin Franklin Wendel was born 13 April 1877; he married Laura Empey, who had been born in 1882, on June 26, 1907. They resided in Alamo, Texas. They have five children, one died in infancy. The others were: Frank Wendel, born March 8, 1908; Margurita Wendel born Nov 5, 1910; Benjamin Wendel born in 1913; and Janet Wendel born Feb 27, 1924. (D) Mary Etta Wendel was born Feb 25, 1881; she married Kenith McKEnzie. They resided in Sioux City and had no children. (E) Jacob Sterling Wendel was born Oct 4, 1884. He lived Helen M McFarland; they lived in Detroit, Michigan and had three children: Mary Helene, George and Robert.

Levi Beaver was born Jan 20, 1847; he married Jane Webbe shout 1873. Levi died about 1927 and Jane died March 10, 1936; they are both buried at Maquoketa. They had seven children: William, Hilon, Mabel, Violet, Maud, Mildred and Jennie. All remained in eastern Iowa.

Rachel Beaver was born 4 Nov 1847. She remained single and died Dec 25, 1935, in Chicago. Her burial was in Chicago, Illinois.

Carrie Beaver was born about 1849. She married Charles Kimble and with their daughter, Pearl Riffle, they lived at Mobridge, South Dakota.

Daniel Beaver was born Aug 5, 1850, and died Aug 8, 1933. He was married Nov 12, 1875, to Mary L Bently of Maquoketa. She was born Feb 3, 1853, and died Jan 17, 1919. Both are buried at Maquoketa, Iowa. They had six children: Anna Agnes, Jessie Violla, David Franklin, Julia Mabel, Inez Eula, and Allie Reed.

Susie Beaver was born Oct 1952, died July 4, 1938. She was married about 1872 to Charles Whiteman. He was born Feb 1849 in Missouri. They had ten children: Seven were living at the time to the 1900 census. I found six living in Grant Township; George was born in Dec 1872 and was married to Sela J; Charles, born March 1881; Gary born Nov 1892; Alva born Sept 1987; Vearney M born June 1892 and Harry Aug 1896. They later lived in Flasher, North Dakota.

James Beaver was born July 25, 1854, and died April 16, 1935. He was married May 21, 1877, to Mary Nielsen, born Oct 25, 1859. They had eleven children: Ida May, J F, A S, Eva J, B A, Levi M, Roy E, Ardo, Margie S, Louie D, and Elva L. They lived at Oto, Iowa.

Jacob Beaver, born about 1856, married Marcha Prizer. They had no children and lived at Flasher, North Dakota.

Sarah Beaver born Ocgt 25, 1856, lived at Salix. (See John Nathan Winterringer.)

Aaron Beaver born April 7, 1862, lived at Oto. (See Allie Winterringer.)

Our immigrant Bieber (Beaver) ancestors were: Johannes born 1695; Dewarlt born 1699; and Johann born 1710. They came to America on the ship ‘Friendship’ landing at Philadelphia, Pa, on Nov 2, 1744. They sailed from Rotterdam with Capt John Mason. Johann brought with him at least two sons: Michael and (John) Jacob. Our direct line is to Jacob, who was born 24 Dec 1731; he married Christiana Catharine Steinbrenner on Nov 7, 1758. She was born 1735 and died about 1818, whe was the daughter of Michael and Sybilla Steinbrenner. They had ten children: Dewalt (July 19, 1759-1793), Jacob (Oct 18, 1761-1835); John (Dec 28, 1763-Dec 4, 1825); Christina (May 30, 1765); John George (Jan 25, 1768-June 30, 1839); John Michael (June 17, 1769-Oct 21, 1847); Conrad (July 2, 1771-Nov 23, 1838); Christian (Dec 9, 1774); Abraham (Nov 22, 177-Dec 5, 1804); and Catherine (April 26, 1783). Jacob served in the Revolutionary War; he died Oct 16, 1798, age 66 years, 9 months, and 23 days. He was said to have come from Basel, Switzerland, a Canton adjoining Alsace-Loraine at France, from where they were driven by the French on account of their Protestant faith.

The next generation was Jacob, Jr, born Oct 13, 1761, died 1835. He married Esther Lesher (Jan 25, 1767-1856) and they had nine children: Jacob (Jan 28, 1789-April 1, 1868); Dewalt (April 6, 1792-Jan 19, 1878); William (Sept 9, 1794-Dec 11, 1878); Samuel (Oct 4, 1797-March 5, 1868); Daniel (Nov 20, 1799-Nov 3, 1859); Maria Elizabeth (April 25, 1802-May 19, 1880); Susan (Feb 10, 1803-Nov 5, 1857); David (June 20, 1906-Dec 22, 1876); and Sarah (Aug 8, 1808-Jan 20, 1877).

The next generation was Jacob, Sr, (born Jan 28, 1789, died April 1, 1868); he married Susanna Keim (she was born April 6, 1786 and died Feb 17, 1884). They lived in Oley Township, Pa. Both are buried in Union Cemetery, Mertztown, Pa. He was a farmer, they had six children: Susanna (Dec 1, 1812); Elizabeth (May 20, 1817); Jacob (1819-1900) the original subject of this article; Sarah (Oct 15, 1821); Esther (Dec 1822); and Jonas (March 16, 1825-Sept 30, 1905).
