Rosina Fenton Blackmarr, b.Alum Creek, Ohio 19 Jul 1847 was the widow of Charles Edwin Meader, Treasurer of Winneshiek County in 1887, when he died by suicide on 9 Sep 1887. Thanks to you folks I was able to get an obituary for him. I am now sitting at a 54" square mahogany table, which came to my family and then to me from my grandmother, their daughter, Elizabeth Amy Meader. It was made in the 1880's and was most likely purchased by C.E. Meader. I am looking for as much information as I can get as to how Rosina Meader was able to survive economically and retain ownership of this dining room set. Only clue I have found is in the 1910 US census where Rose Odson, married 20 years, was present in the home of her daughter Elizabeth and husband William Henry Shipman III in Columbus, Ohio. I found Odsons listed in the 1895 Iowa census and 1900 US census, but no possible listing for Rosina. Nor could I find a marriage record in Winneshiek County for Rosina and an Odson.
Odson, incidentally, is a very uncommon name at that time and the older Odsons were born in Norway and most were found in Iowa.
If anyone knows of any source that might give a clue about this mystery marriage and how Rosina Meader survived economically until her daughters married.
