A Mystery

RYAN, TIERNEY

I am wondering if anyone in the area knows anything about a Father Patrick A. Tierney. Father Tierney was the Catholic parish priest in the Ossian, Festina area in the early 1880's. When my G grandmother died in 1881, then Ggrandfather in 1883, leaving 5 children, Fr. Tierney became the guardian of the three youngest children. When he moved to a parish in Granville, Iowa, my uncle, Michael Ryan moved with him. The two younger children, William and Margaret lived with him in Granville and attended school there for a short time before moving to MI with their older sister who got married. Michael stayed in Iowa with Father Tierney. I did find Father Patrick A. Tierney in an Iowa 1900 Census in Vernon, Dubuque, Iowa. It does list Michael still living with him at age 25. In 1910 Michael is no longer listed as living with Fr. Tierney. What became of Michael? No one in the family knows what happened to him.
I'd like to find out any information on this priest and my uncle.
