If you're still looking for information on Thomas Windell I have a limited amount of information on a Thomas A. Windell. He was probably born in (West) Virginia or Indiana in 1826. I believe he married an Evaline Jerret (or Jarret?)in Indiana in 1852. They moved to Winneshiek County, Iowa in the early 1850's. They had 8 children; among them was a George Lincoln Windell born in 1863. Both Thomas and George Lincoln are buried in the Bloomfield Cemetery which is just West of Castalia, Iowa. There were a great number of settlers in the Castalia area that started out in the Greenbriar County, Virginia area, moved to Indiana in the 1840's, and then on to Winneshiek county in the early 1850's.
