Mrs. Johanna Lukas Died Suddenly
Mrs. Johanna Lukas died suddenly Sunday, February 16, 1930 dropping dead, while in the process of sweeping off the sidewalks on her premises, death being caused by heart failure. Johanna Kouboushek, a daughter of Mike and Kate Kouboushek, was born May 10th, 1869 in Bohemia, being 61 years of age at the time of her death. Thirty-seven years ago she came to America, and was united in marriage at New York city, to John Lukas, and to this union five children were born, four of whom survive. The living children are Mary, Mrs. Will Fisher of Spillville, Iowa; Lewis Lukas, of Ridgeway, Iowa; Rosie, Mrs. Will Macal, of Ridgeway, Iowa; Lucy Lukas, who lived with her mother in Calmar, Iowa. Deceased is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: John Kouboushek, living in North Dakota, Mrs. Frank Pavlovec, living in Calmar, Iowa, and Thomas, Joe, and Barbara, living in Bohemia. Her husband preceeded her in death, having passed away, June 9, 1923. Funeral services were held this Wednesday morning, at 10:00 o'clock at the St. Wenceslaus church, at Spillville, Iowa, Rev. Father Broz officiating. The pall bearers were John Soukup, Joseph Soukup, Frank Kouboushek, James Kouboushek, Frank Ryant and Joseph Ptachek.Transcribed from newspaper obituary, paper/date unknown.
